This post is based at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Services are provided across both Chorley and Preston sites.

We currently have an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated Lead Respiratory Physiologist to join our team in the lung function and sleep laboratory.

We are entering an exciting phase of developing the respiratory department. The Lead Respiratory Physiologist will play an active role in this process.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the service, and perform a wide range of respiratory investigations.

You will be self-motivated, well organised, have excellent interpersonal skills, and have the ability to prioritise and use your own initiative.

You must have a flexible attitude and the willingness to travel between sites.

You must be able to perform a full range of investigations including spirometry, diffusion, plethysmography, bronchial challenge testing, exercise testing and assessment of sleep disorders and be willing to undertake the challenge of developing these services further.

Continuous professional development is strongly encouraged and you will have excellent opportunities to develop further your skills and knowledge.

Training and supervision will form part of this role. We have recently appointed a trainee associate practitioner, a role new to the department. You will be responsible for the development and support of this candidate as well supporting the development of existing respiratory physiologists.

You must have proven post-registration experience with a BSc (Hons) Degree qualification in Respiratory Clinical Physiology or equivalent. You will have extensive experience as a senior respiratory physiologist and must have RCCP registration. Ref: LT8458.

We are a very active department providing a wide range of diagnostics and treatments. A new purpose-built Cardiorespiratory and Vascular Department at Kings Mill Hospital has opened in August 2008 in the state of the art Kings Treatment Centre and substantial investment in outreach services at Newark Hospital is underway.

The department provides a comprehensive range of investigative procedures including echocardiography (TTE, TOE, Stress, Direct Access Echo service to GP’s), vascular scanning, permanent pacing, exercise stress testing, ambulatory ECG and BP monitoring, tilt-table testing, on-site angiography facilities for diagnostics and PCI, full lung function testing, CBGA, respiratory muscle testing, sleep studies, initiate CPAP and NIV treatment and run Follow up clinics. Clinical Physiologists are part of the Multi-disciplinary Teams in Cardiology, Respiratory and Vascular services and work closely with the Consultants.

Successful applicants will be expected to join the team and make a real impression on the services of Sherwood Forest Hospital Trust and plan for the future improvements and developments of our Department and Trust. The current projects include ICD implants, Paediatric sleep studies, Newark Sleep Studies and use of Body Box. Newly qualified Clinical Physiologists are welcome to apply as we establish a Band 5/6 run-through program of competencies, evidence and portfolio.

We are looking for an enthusiastic self motivated Clinical Physiologist to join this friendly and professional team.

The successful applicant will perform a wide range of lung function investigations including full lung function, respiratory muscle testing, skin allergy testing, methacholine and exercise challenges, hypoxic challenges, anatomical shunts and cardiopulmonary exercise tests.

They will also take an active part in the sleep apnoea service including the setting up of diagnostic studies out of hours, the analysis and reporting of data and the titration and issue of CPAP equipment.

All applicants must hold or be studying towards a BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent plus relevant professional qualifications an advantage i.e. ARTP Part I and II and have RCCP registration. Applicants should have experience in a range of investigations but ongoing training will be provided where necessary.

An experienced and enthusiastic Respiratory Physiologist is required to join our team in the Chest Unit of this prestigious London teaching hospital.

The appointee will be responsible for the day-to-day running and supervision of a busy respiratory function service. They will play an active role in the development and expansion of our sleep investigation, CPAP and NIV services.

Unusually, this is also an opportunity to be involved in the organisation and provision of a bronchoscopy service.

The successful candidate will be required to help supervise, assess and support our four trainee Respiratory Physiologists.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Respiratory Physiologist, with excellent communication and supervisory skills. They should be self-motivated, demonstrate a high level of technical skills and be willing to learn new tests and techniques.

A Clinical Physiology BSc or equivalent professional qualification is required. A minimum of 4 years formal training is required, and ARTP Part 1 and 2 are desirable. The post holder should be registered with the RCCP or actively seeking registration.

Salary will be in the range: £28,924 - £38,591 pa inc.

Respiratory Medicine in Nottingham has recently been awarded £6 million to deliver a step change in our translational research capacity. Part of this funding will provide a new Lung Function Department, equipment and staff to create an integrated clinical and research facility. The successful candidates will support the Respiratory Biomedical Research Unit and these posts provide an exciting opportunity to be involved with the development of a new department.

We are seeking to recruit two enthusiastic and motivated respiratory physiologists to join our friendly, professional and busy team; performing a wide range of routine and complex diagnostic lung function tests as well as supporting the established sleep services based at the CITY hospital campus.

Are you a newly qualified respiratory physiologist looking to develop a solid foundation within the profession, or do you already possess at least two years experience as a qualified physiologist working in respiratory physiology and are looking to expand your role? Then we want to hear from you.

Candidates should have experience of full lung function testing including body plethysmography, flight assessments and capillary blood gas analysis. Experience in the delivery of CPAP and NIV and assisting with departmental training would be an advantageous for applicants wishing to be considered for the band 6 position.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to work primarily in the Respiratory Function Department of this busy London Trust. The department covers two sites, and carries out many procedures, including basic lung function testing, histamine provocation testing, oral drug challenges, and cardiopulmonary exercise testing. You will also undertake some polysomnographic work in the Sleep Disorder Centre, and assist during bronchoscopy procedures.

Working in a friendly environment, you will undertake a full range of respiratory investigations (including lung volume measurements using helium dilution and whole-body plethysmography), as well as supervise and support junior technologists.

You should have a BSC in Clinical Physiology or equivalent. It is desirable to have a relevant professional qualification (ARTP Part 1/Part2) combined with substantial relevant training. You should also be registered with RCCP.

We are looking for a committed individual to join a forward thinking multi-disciplinary team to deliver a range of specialised diagnostic tests ranging from Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing to basic GI Physiology.

This is a new development in Aintree with collaboration between Digestive Diseases Unit, Respiratory department and The Department of Anaesthesia and Critical Care with an aim in providing optimal management throughout the care pathway for those patients undergoing major surgical procedures.

There is a strong commitment to the Clinical Governance Agenda, CPD and R&D within the Business Unit and the team will be responsible in providing research to enable the unit to work towards being a National Centre of Excellence for Pre- Operative Assessment and Peri-Operative Management.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to take on the responsibility of delivering the respiratory & sleep diagnostic service within the Lung Function and Sleep Unit at St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust.

The Lung Function & Sleep Unit, based in the Cardiothoracic Outpatient Department performs spirometry, gas transfer and static volumes via plethysmography. A full range of sleep studies are performed from home oximetry to in-house polysomnography with full EEG montage.

The Paediatric Sleep Service enjoys excellent relationships with the Sleep Disorders Centre and the Neurophysiology Department at St Thomas’ Hospital and collaboration with both has enabled the opening of two dedicated, child friendly bedrooms at Evelina Children’s Hospital. Once established, trained specialist nurses will monitor the over-night studies however an occasional night-shift will be necessary and up to two late shifts a week. Enhanced payment is available for any unsociable hours worked.

We are looking for a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), with a degree (preferably Clinical Physiology or biological science), or an advanced nursing qualification in a relevant specialty, that has some experience of sleep studies, preferably with a background in either Paediatrics or Neurophysiology. You will be expected to work with other respiratory health care professionals, especially respiratory nurses and clinical respiratory physicians and teams. There are seven different consultant respiratory physicians in the hospital and it is the main respiratory tertiary health centre of South Wales.

The lung function department is a closely-knit team and is also a training department; you must be prepared to become an integrated part of this team with good interpersonal skills. You will also require good communication and organisational skills.

We are currently looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Respiratory Physiology and sleep medicine team.

The Clinical Physiologist will be based at North Manchester General Hospital and will be part of a team providing a comprehensive Respiratory and sleep service to the North Manchester site, with sessions at the other three hospitals as required.

The successful candidate must be able to perform a range of Respiratory and Sleep investigations, including Spirometry, Static Lung Volumes, Gas transfer studies, Exercise and challenge studies.  Sleep investigations include:  Polysomnography, domiciliary Multi-Channel Sleep monitoring, CPAP Trials and follow up clinics.

Applicants will have a BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent, with ARTP 1 and be RCCP registered with 2 years post qualification experience.  Computer skills are also essential.

We require an enthusiastic and highly motivated person to join our modern Lung Function Department. You will be required to undertake the full range of investigations including respiratory muscle assessment, capillary blood gases, bronchial provocation, oxygen assessments for flying and sleep studies. The post holder will play a key role in the development of specialist diagnostic services, including cardiopulmonary exercise testing and CPAP service.

This is an opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Physiologist to work independently within a multidisciplinary team. The department provides a wide range of investigations in both respiratory and sleep studies.

The successful candidate would be required to perform a range of respiratory investigations for adult patients including Spirometry, lung volumes (via helium dilution and plethysmography), and gas transfer. The service also includes skin prick allergy testing on adults and children.

The Sleep investigation Unit offers multi-channel sleep studies and CPAP trials. Ideally the successful candidate will have experience in the setting up, analysis and interpretation of sleep investigations. Training will be offered as required.

The successful candidate will be expected to offer teaching to medical, nursing and other staff groups and good communication skills are therefore essential. The Trust actively promotes and encourages personal development and CPD.

Candidates should possess a Clinical Physiology degree or equivalent qualification/experience together with ARTP professional qualifications. RCCP registration (Respiratory) is desirable; you will also need to be computer literate.

Specialist Respiratory Clinical Physiologist – Band 7

Salary Scale : £28,313 - £37,326 per annum

An opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Clinical Physiologist to join our Pulmonary Function Unit, based at Ninewells Hospital. The pulmonary function unit is part of a new Chest Unit which opened in 2002, and you will be expected to develop the existing service. You will lead a small team of respiratory technologists, performing a wide range of lung function tests including spirometry, flow volume loops, transfer factors, reversibility studies and fitness to fly assessments. You will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, which includes anaesthetists and chest physicians, who are developing a new preoperative assessment clinic with cardiopulmonary exercise testing; some experience in this area is essential. You will also be actively involved in the sleep service, which started in October 2005, and will have experience of scoring sleep studies. Self motivation and good communication skills are essential for this post.

A degree or equivalent in physiological measurement, including ARTP Parts I and II are desirable. Relevant experience is essential. You should also be registered with RCCP or eligible for registration with HPC.
