The ARTP/BTS Certificate in Spirometry was introduced to give a recognised national qualification for those practitioners who follow and complete a recognised programme of study.
It is particularly suitable for Assistant Physiologists and
staff in Primary Care undertaking spirometry as part of an extended role.
Click this link for more
details about the Spirometry Certificate & Assessment and to find your local
assessor.
There are many centres around the country who put on an approved course. Click this link for dates on which courses are running. If your local centre is not currently running one, contact them as there may be enough demand to arrange one.
(The ARTP Spirometry Handbook is an essential reference book to accompany the ARTP Spirometry Course. For more details see The ARTP Spirometry Handbook.)
(See also: Education for Health offer a Diploma Level Module: Spirometry for Practice)
The ARTP/BTS Practical Examinations (Part I & II) are recognised national qualifications designed to establish that a clinical physiologist satisfies the competence level expected of a basic practitioner practising respiratory physiology.
To find out more about the Practical Examinations click this link.
(There are two ARTP Practical Handbooks in Respiratory Physiology (Part I & II) which are essential reference books to accompany the respective ARTP Practical Examinations in Respiratory Physiology. However they are also a useful source of reference for anybody working in a respiratory function laboratory. For more details see The ARTP Handbooks.)
The ARTP Certificate of Competence in Blood Gas Sampling and Analysis has been introduced to demonstrate a recognised standard for those practitioners who complete the Blood Gas Certificate program.
