Currently the membership includes :-
Tariff 0 - Year 1 & 2 Students, life Members -
Free
Free membership is offered to students in the first two years of training. A
confirmation letter from your work-based supervisor stating that you are
currently studying on year 1 or 2 of an RCCP approved SSe (Hons) Clinical
Physiology Degree and are being paid on a student grade or less.
Tariff 1 - Year 3 & 4 Students, Assistant Practitioner -
£22
A Student Member will be undertaking training leading to Registration
Council for Clinical Physiology (RCCP) / Health Professions Council (HPC)
recognised respiratory qualification .
An Assistant Practitioner Member will be
employed in Respiratory Physiology or an allied discipline in Respiratory
Medicine in a position that is below accredited status.
Tariff 2 - Allied Profession - £26
Concessionary tariff is available to members of affiliated professional
bodies having a reciprocal agreement with ARTP (list available on website).
Tariff 3 - Associate/Accredited/Allied
Profession (without reciprocal agreement)/Non-Clinical Corporate -
£35
Associate Member (with voting rights) An
associate member will be employed in Respiratory Physiology or an allied
discipline in Respiratory Medicine and be able to demonstrate relevant
experience in Respiratory Physiology and Technology.
Accredited Member (with voting rights) An
accredited member will be an associate member who is currently accepted onto the
RCCP voluntary register or an HPC State Register in Respiratory Physiology.
Members must notify ARTP if their registration status changes.
Allied Profession membership is open to anyone with an interest in
Respiratory Physiology, working in a clinical environment who does not fulfil
the criteria as specified above.
Non-Clinical Corporate Persons working in a clinical capacity are
normally eligible for Assistant, Associate or Accredited membership. Persons not
working in a clinical capacity that wish to hold a personal membership may use
the 'Corporate (Non-Clinical)' category if their company is already a Corporate
member.
Tariff 4 - Corporate -£225
Corporate membership is open to representatives of companies involved in the
fields of respiratory technology, physiology and pharmacology subject to
approval by the Executive Committee.
Overseas Member - £40 (Email Only)
A member who is employed in Respiratory Physiology, or an allied discipline,
or who has an interest in Respiratory Physiology. Overseas members can only
receive electronic mailings (excluding Inspire which will be sent by post).
Other membership benefits are unaffected.
Membership applications are accepted at the discretion of the ARTP Executive Committee, and the decision of the Executive Committee is final.
The British Thoracic Society have agreed that ARTP members are eligible for their concessionary rate (irrespective of the salary threshold).
No other formal reciprocal agreements have yet been made with other professional bodies.

is the sole professional organisation in the UK for practitioners working in respiratory physiology and technology.
develops training strategies, training materials, organises and runs its own national training courses and meetings for members.
holds a major national annual conference. (preferential rates for members)
provides the only national professional examinations for practitioners in;
(1) spirometry and (2) respiratory function testing.
produces ‘Inspire’ - the official journal of the ARTP.
circulates monthly national job bulletins and informs members about relevant meetings, courses and conferences.
publishes a variety of guidelines relating to the employment of staff and the good practice of members.
funds bursaries to enable members to attend important national / international meetings and courses.
works closely with lung function equipment manufacturers and respiratory pharmaceutical companies.
works in conjunction with the British Thoracic Society to produce national guidelines and standards for good practice in the performance of respiratory measurement.
works closely with the NHS Executive & the Department of Health in formulating policy and in the strategic direction of the profession.
is a founder member of the Conference of Clinical Scientist’s Organisation’s (CCSO) and is a member of the Association of Clinical Scientist’s.
has close involvement with Assembly 9 of the European Respiratory Society.
