Welcome to the ARTP news page! New visitors - congratulations you have connected with the professional body representing clinical lung function staff and standards of measurement in the United Kingdom! We are here to support all members of the healthcare team who are interested/involved in clinical lung function testing. We especially welcome colleagues from around the world (ANZSRS, NVLA, ARTI, AARC, etc) who also appreciate the need for high quality and standards of excellence in clinical lung function measurement
As our home page shows, we are a long established professional association (nearly 30 years) with a membership of over 600 (and access to many non-members too!). We offer professional advice, teaching and training in lung function measurement; we set, and run, the National Assessments in both Spirometry and Lung Function measurement in collaboration with the British Thoracic Society.
We present this News page to keep our members as well as other interested individuals informed of developments in the field of clinical respiratory measurement; the courses offered by the ARTP, the standards we recommend, as well as useful information, tips and even the odd criticism. We are always keen to learn and listen to all those who want to measure lung function safely and professionally.
If you are a non-member, and you think this is good - wait until you see what you get when you join the ARTP (see Membership). The “Members Only” section allows you access to a range of useful material for teaching, training and professional development. You can also join the ARTP Forum – the liveliest and most informative respiratory forum this side of the capillary basement membrane! The advantages are obvious, but no longer do you need to feel isolated in a distant small hospital or a quiet voice in a large joint physiological measurement department, or even as a practice or specialist nurse! The ARTP is your professional body, working for you and with you to raise the standards of physiological respiratory measurement.
